Tuesday 20th October 2008 saw the launch of the Winchester E-network. The Enterprise Network is a collaborative activity with the aim of encouraging and enabling students of the University of Winchester and the University of Southampton's Winchester School of Art to start their own businesses. Other partners include Winchester City Council and Business Link.
The events take the form of a short presentation on a business related theme followed by ample opportunity to network in the comfortable and well equipped surroundings of the newly furbished "Sargent Resource Room", part of Winchester Business School at the West Downs Campus.
The first event was opened by Professor Joy Carter who welcomed the 60+ network members and wished the venture every success. Professor Neil Marriott then introduced the inaugural speaker, Steve Northam of SN Technologies Limited. Steve is a recent Business Management graduate of the University of Winchester who established his own prize winning business during his studies. Steve gave a colourful account of the highs and lows of his experiences, before answering a range of questions from the assembled audience. This was followed by a drinks buffet for members to continue to network.
The next meeting is on the evening of 18th November 2008 when Lisa Fines from Hippowaste will be discussing smart marketing techniques. Network events are free, but anyone wishing to come along should register before attending.
